Scope and contentFile contains materials related to the life of Thomas McKay, the first mayor of Prince Albert (1886). Includes an article from the Regina Leader Post (November, 1953) entitled "The colorful McKay clan" by J.R. Bothwell, it also includes a genealogical table labelled as a "1983 revision of a trial table of the first three generations of the descendants of John McKay (1763?-5 July 1810) and Mary Favell (d. 19 Mar 1810)," a biographical sketch of Thomas and Catherine McKay (presumably from a local history book, no information given), also includes a short biography written by one Richmond Mayson entitled simply "Thomas McKay," file also includes an article entitled "Northern Saskathcewan Pays Outstanding Tribute to Thomas McKay" relating the events of his funeral, file also contains a Prince Albert Daily Herald article entitled "Prince Albert's First Mayor Recieves Belated Tribute," file also includes copies of a photographic portrait of Mr. McKay, file also includes an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald, May 26, 1955 entitled "Thomas McKay Was First to Sign As Volunteer to Combat Riel Force," file also contains an article entitled "Pioneer of North is Laid to Rest: 1000 Persons Pay Their Last Respects at McKay Funeral" from the Saskatoon Phoenix, September 29, 1924, file also includes correspondence regarding the commemoration of Mr. McKay's activities in the community, file also includes a short biographical write up entitled "MCKAY - Thomas" with no author or date listed, file also contains an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald, August 31, 1967, entitled "Thomas McKay Played Heroic Rebellion Role," and an article entitled "Mrs. Thomas McKay, Wife of Historic Figure, Is Dead" (nd given).
