Scope and contentThe file contains a presentation on behalf of the Coalition Against First Nations Genocide by Stewart Phillip and Pierre Kruger. Phillip discusses the organization's demographic composition and mandate which involves pressuring federal and provincial governments to ensure their policies are involve "credible processes of community level consultations" and "full and complete democratic participation and decision-making based on informed consent." Phillip also discusses the Coalition's work in informing the general public about Aboriginal issues of concern to their Elders and grassroots membership. Phillip discusses the history of the organization which was formed in response to several pieces of legislation, and its' views on the principle of self-determination of peoples. Kruger discusses NAFTA and the lack of Aboriginal representation in negotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement. Following the presentation Commissioner Mary Sillett discusses some of the issues raised with the two presenters.
