Scope and contentThe file contains a presentation on behalf of the First Nations Tourism Association of British Columbia by Barry Parker. Parker, Chairperson of the Canadian National Aboriginal Tourism Association and Executive Director of the First Nations Tourism Association, discusses the Aboriginal tourism industry which he defines as "any tourism product or service which is owned or operated by Aboriginal people." Parker gives a statistical overview of the industry, people's views of it, cultural exploitation, positive results of tourism, marketing and promotion, environmental aspects and eco-tourism, sustainability, government support and agreements, and working in the tourism industries positive effect on self-image. Following the presentation Commissioner Mary Sillett and Policy Analyst Linda Jordan discuss some of the issues raised with Parker.
