Scope and contentFile contains a presentation by Donna Sears and Bernice Ireland on behalf of the Atenlos Women's Group. Sears discusses the "epidemic" of violence in Aboriginal communities, particularly with regard to family violence. Sears recommends the establishment of a centre for First Nations youth to learn about their language and culture, a group home for First Nations youth involved in the court system, equal representation for women in First Nations political structures, the establishment of an all First Nations health service, curriculum changes to better represent Aboriginal peoples history and culture, and the establishment of a healing lodge and women's shelters. Following the presentation both Sears and Ireland answer questions from Commissioner Chartrand and Erasmus.
