Scope and contentFile contains a presentation by London District Chiefs, Chief Daniel Miskokomon. Miskokomon, Chief of Walpole Island, London District, discusses his views on the empowerment, enablement, and equality of First Nations. Chief Miskokmon also discusses the importance of the environment to his people and the threats which the Great Lakes constantly faces in this sphere, the Jay Treaty and international border crossing rights, education issues, band elections, and a proposal for a "forum to develop our First Nation laws, such as policing, justice, environmental conservation laws -- and the list goes on." Chief Miskokomon then reads aloud a letter from a band member regarding the fur industry, animal rights movement, and colonialism. Following the presentation Commissioners Chartrand and Erasmus discuss some of the issues raised with Chief Miskokomon.
