Kakfwi discusses the recent failure of the Charlottetown Accord (which his government supported), the need for healing of Aboriginal communities as part of the move towards self-government, the unique situation of northern Aboriginal communities in Canada, his governments character in terms of being Aboriginal in the majority of representatives, housing issues, the creation of Nunavut, self-governance agreements generally, Treaty and Metis issues, and the question of an inherent right to self-government. Following the presentation the assembled Commissioners discuss boundary, Treaty, language, education, and self-government concerns with Kakfwi. | |
