Scope and contentFile contains a presentation by Chief Eli Mandamin relating to the treaty relationship between Anishinabe First Nations and the federal government. Mandamin has a number of recommendations, in particular that the federal government must recognize and accept that Aboriginal cultures are different than non-Aboriginal cultures and must not be suppressed; recognize that Aboriginal culture is not inferior to or less sophisticated than non-Aboriginal culture, especially in relation to the land; and that the spirit and intent of the treaty relationship is based on nation-to-nation relationships between the First Nations and the federal government. Following the presentation is a question-and-answer session with the Commissioners.
