Scope and content | Ads for Kamloops Wawa publications. Editorial includes story of how the Aboriginal people did not believe LeJeune when he explained that they are descendents from monkeys because they thought they were descendents from birds. Refers to an old medicine man called Eagle and another called Beaver who were called these names because they could transform into these creatures. This led to comparisons made by LeJeune between Aboriginal and Old Israelite cultural practices as well as language similarities between Hebrew and local Aboriginal language. The Apostolic Delegate at Kamloops: Mgr. Donato Sbaretti, Archbishop of Ephesus, the representative of the Pope in the Dominion of Canada. Arrived in Victoria, then on to Vancouver and Kamloops where he celebrated Mass with Bishop Dontenwill. After Mass, Chief Louis arrived "with a brilliant cavalcade" and welcomed the Archbishop who addressed him and said "he was pleased to see them all in good disposition, knowing that not so long ago the were still in the darkness of the shadow of death." Describes meeting, feast and departure. Secular question and answer: What is the object of a Papal Delegate? The Pallium; Pius X; Sacrament of Penance; and Indian Calendar for 1904. | |
