Historical noteThe Mackenzie District encompasses a large part of the Northwest Territories, bordered on the south by British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, on the west by Yukon Territory, on the north by the Arctic Ocean, and on the east by an irregular line running to the east of Great Bear Lake and Great Slave Lake and extending from the Arctic Ocean to the northern boundary of Saskatchewan.
Scope and contentThis study describes what aboriginal attitudes to the concept of development in the Mackenzie District of Canada. It shows "there are different ideas in different groups as to what 'development' is, as well as different enthusiasms about development."
