Historical noteLoyal Till Death: Indians and the North West Rebellion was co-authored with Professor Blair Stonechild, head of Indigenous Studies at the First Nations University of Canada. The book was praised for its sensitivity in telling the stories of Indians during this turbulent time. It won a 1997 Saskatchewan Book Award for First Peoples Publishing and was a finalist for the Governor Generals Literary Award for non-fiction.
Scope and contentPortrait of North West Mounted Police Superintendent Leif Crozier in uniform. Caption from Waiser/Stonechild book: "Superintendent Leif Crozier, a veteran police officer, had been dispatched to Fort Carlton to prevent Metis unrest; he resigned as a direct consequence of the Duck Lake clash." On back of photograph: "Crozier joined force in 1874; Superintendent in 1880; retired in 1886 as Ass't Comm."
