| Scope and content | Image of the Soviet War Memorial at the Tiergarten. Beside the memorial, buildings damaged by bombing are clearly visible. Erected just a few months after the capture of the city of Berlin in 1945, this Soviet War Memorial sits in the Tiergarten, a large public park situated to the west of the city, not far from the Brandenburg Gate. The Tiergarten was located in the British sector of the city but the building of the memorial was supported by all World War II allied powers. | |
