Minutes of the Board of Governors meeting. The primary issue discussed related to the charges made by Samuel Greenway, Director of Extension. These charges led to what became known as the "1919 Crisis." The Board noted that four professors had not responded to their request for written letters from teaching staff regarding any issues they might have with the President, or administration: Professors MacLaurin, Hogg, Adams,or Greenway. Mr. Greenway appeared before the Board at this meeting. The minutes reflect his desire for "more help and opportunity for organization" of Extension. At this meeting, Greenway asserted no wish for an investigation, and had not intended to infer dishonesty on the part of the president. He also denied having suggested the faculty were dissatisfied with the administration. |
