Curator's note | Designed by Webster and Gilbert, Architects, and built between 1948 and 1955 by Smith Bros. and Wilson, contractors, the 6-story University Hospital was officially opened in May 1955. The name was officially changed to Royal University Hospital on 23 May 1990. Autoclave machines are used to sterilize medical equipment by subjecting it to high pressure steam, a process which destroys or inactivates most bacteria, viruses, spores and fungi. |
