Curator's note | Contemporary technology and industrial organization has permitted the mass production of manufactured goods, that are just as easily replaced as repaired. There is much less demand for the unique one-off products of blacksmiths. This photo shows a blacksmith's anvil, usually made of steel or steel-faced wrought iron, upon which metal is hammered and bent to shape. |
